Course Overview

The graduate in Occupational Therapy (T.O.) must possess: a good knowledge of the foundations of the preparatory (physical, medical statistics, sociology, general and clinical psychology) and biological disciplines (anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, general pathology, clinical microbiology); in-depth knowledge of the disciplines characterizing the profession of T.O .; knowledge of disciplines in the fields of human and psycho-pedagogical sciences, medical-surgical sciences, health management sciences and interdisciplinary and clinical sciences. The educational path of the CdS student in T.O., in the 3 years will be the following:

1st year. Acquisition of essential knowledge of computer physics and medical statistics, sociology, basic biomedical sciences, psychology, health management and occupational therapy, as foundations of the discipline and professional methodology, fundamental requirements to face the first internship experience aimed at orientation of the student to the professional fields of reference and to the acquisition of basic skills. In addition, the student will have to acquire methodological skills in scientific research and epidemiology.

2nd year. Acquisition of knowledge related to advanced biomedical sciences and interdisciplinary sciences. For occupational therapy, he will deepen the field of physical and rehabilitation medicine, the psychosocial and psychiatric aspects. Of particular importance for training will be the teachings related to orthopedics, biomedical sciences of first aid. The training will be completed with the rehabilitative aspects of occupational therapy. All this in order to acquire professional skills in clinical experiences in clinical contexts in which the student can experiment with intellectual, relational and gestural skills; identify theoretical aspects that emerge in clinical practice, seeking the best evidence available in the literature to confront a professional community of reference in order to acquire the "best possible practice".

3rd year. Acquisition of knowledge and methodologies concerning the science of the prevention of health services, the medical-surgical sciences and protective drugs, the medical aspects of occupational therapy with particular reference to the interdisciplinary and clinical aspects of the main diseases. Finally, the training will be completed with the computer lab and the acquisition of credits of your choice. It will be important for the training to acquire the ability to work in teams and in complex organizational contexts. In this year in the internship experiences the student can experience a gradual assumption of autonomy and responsibility always with the supervision of experts.

The student must have a good knowledge of written and spoken English in order to access international literature and to have pre-graduate (ERASMUS) or post-graduate work or study experience abroad.

The moment in which the student can develop his / her orientation is during the preparation of the thesis work for which 6 ECTS are foreseen. The didactic activity in the field of radiation protection must be included in the didactic systems of the degree classes according to the contents of attachment IV of the legislative decree 26th May 2000, n. 187. In the educational systems, the training activities pursuant to art. 10, paragraph 5, letters a), c), d), e) of the Ministerial Decree October 22, 2004, n. 270, with a number of ECTS respectively of: 6 chosen by the student; 9 for the final exam and for the English language; 6 for other activities such as IT, seminar activities, etc. and 3 for professional laboratories of the specific SSD of the profile; finally 60 ECTS are reserved for the training internship in the specific professional profile. The degree qualifies for the Occupational Therapist Profession.
