The Catania International Summer School of Neuroscience has always attracted attendees from Europe interested in the most appealing topics in Neuroscience and Neuropsychopharmacology. This year, in collaboration with TEVA ITALIA srl, the School is focused on “ANIMAL MODELS OF HUMAN BRAIN DISEASES”. During the CISSN, 12 lectures of 120 min (including 30-min discussion) will be delivered by experts among the best in the field of brain diseases.
CISSN is addressed to PhD students and Post-Doctoral fellows interested in Neuroscience.
CISSN 2017 topic
ANIMAL MODELS OF HUMAN BRAIN DISEASES
Psychiatric and neurological diseases are of significant burden for patients and societies. Despite decades of intense research, the progress in respect to innovative treatment strategies is very limited. This has to be ascribed, at least in part, to the low translational values of preclinical studies. This urges for a refinement of animal models of Human Brain diseases. The CISSN 2017 will introduce into cutting-edge approaches for studying brain pathology in model organisms. On basis of the RDoC system (https://www.nimh.nih.gov/research-priorities/rdoc/constructs/rdoc-matrix.shtml), we plan to cover all Research Domains and selected analytical units.
