The Department

The Department of Biomedical and Biotechnological Sciences is one of the four departments of the University of Catania School of Medicine. It consists of eight sections:

• Biology and Genetics
• Clinical biochemistry and Medical genetics
• General and clinical pathology and oncology
• Human Anatomy, Histology and Movement Sciences
• Medical Biochemistry
• Microbiology
• Pharmacology
• Physiology

Our staff also collaborates with research groups based in other departments of the University. The Department's management offices and central administration are located in the Biological Tower, at Via Santa Sofia 97. The same building houses the Sections of Medical Biochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry and Medical Genetics, Pharmacology, Physiology, Microbiology, and General and Clinical Pathology and Oncology. The Sections of Human Anatomy, Histology and Movement Sciences are located at Via Santa Sofia 87.
