ASPETTI DIAGNOSTICI MULTIDISCIPLINARI PREIMPIANTI E PRENATALI - DIAGNOSTI MOLECOLARE
Module DIAGNOSTICA MOLECOLARE PREIMPIANTO E PRENATALE

Academic Year 2024/2025 - Teacher: NUNZIO IRACI

Expected Learning Outcomes

The course aims to provide skills on new molecular markers such as exosomes and their cargoes in the culture medium of the embryo, blastocoel and maternal blood. Particular attention will be paid to the development of new applications in the context of molecular biology.

Course Structure

Lectures and exercises.

Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.

Learning assessment may also be carried out on line, should the conditions require it.

Information for students with disabilities and / or SLD: To guarantee equal opportunities and in compliance with the laws in force, interested students can ask for a personal interview in order to plan any compensatory and / or dispensatory measures, based on the teaching objectives and specifications needs. It is also possible to contact the CInAP contact person (Center for Active and Participatory Integration - Services for Disabilities and / or SLD) of the Department of Biomedical and Biotechonological Sciences.

Required Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of cellular and molecular biology.

Attendance of Lessons

Attendance of the course is compulsory to the extent foreseen by the study course regulations.

Detailed Course Content

- Preimplantation diagnosis and Prenatal diagnosis: Definition, indications, limitations, non-invasive (NIPT) and invasive methods.

- Sequencing methods: from the first to the third generation

- Integration of different “Omics” for the discovery of new biomarkers

- Extracellular vesicles: new protagonists in intercellular communication and nanomedicine
