Human Anatomy, Histology and Movement Sciences
Person in charge: Velia Maria D'AgataThe professors of the scientific disciplinary sectors of BIO / 16 - Human Anatomy, BIO / 17 - Histology and M-EDF / 01 - Methods and Didactics of Motor Activities belong to the section of Anatomy, Histology and Movement Sciences and Histology.
The research activity of the section is focused on macroscopic, microscopic and ultrastructural morphology studies with particular regard to morpho-molecular, morpho-functional correlations and development and differentiation processes.
The teaching activity, provided in numerous study courses, is enriched by theoretical-practical exercises that take place in the various teaching laboratories.
In the didactic laboratory of anatomical models there are models of human skeleton, decomposable anatomical models of all the apparatuses of the human body, individual bones and organs. Students have the opportunity to view anatomical models for study purposes by contacting the staff. The use of anatomical models is allowed only in rooms reserved for exercises.
The section also has a classroom for practical dissection exercises on animal organs. This activity allows students to acquire knowledge of three-dimensional anatomical structures and to become familiar with the tools suitable for this practice (scalpels, anatomical and surgical forceps, etc).
In addition, the teachers of Human Anatomy also carry out exercises using the "Anatomage Table". This system allows the visualization of the human body and its parts in 3D. Users can study human organs as if it were a real corpse. The individual anatomical structures are reconstructed in detail, with a level of accuracy and precision equal to the real anatomy, and can be sectioned. The cuts can be made on the three anatomical planes: sagittal, transverse and frontal. In addition, the "Anatomage Table" allows you to observe the topographical relationships between the various organs and systems. The human body is displayed in real size on an operating table and an interactive dissection can be performed via a touch-screen.
The section also has a classroom for practical histology exercises equipped with 20 optical microscopes equipped with a kit of slides for the observation of histological sections of all tissues, human and otherwise. This provides students with an effective and efficient histology learning pathway as a key to understanding the analysis of microscopic preparations of non-pathological tissues and the identification of the salient elements for their recognition.
